Products – Descriptions Overview

The Product Description fields provide a user with the ability to display the product’s qualities in a highly customizable fashion. All Product Description fields may contain HTML markup and are assigned a variety of keywords for maximum usage and versatility.

Products – Descriptions Fields

Brief Description: This field may contain full HTML markup. It is the description that will appear on the Brief Product page when the template contains the keyword AUTO_GENERATED_PRODUCT_DESCR. And it will appear on either the Brief or Detail Product when the keyword AUTO_GENERATED_PRODUCT_DESCR_BRIEF is used.
Brief Description (user …): This field functions exactly the same as the Brief Description, except the text entered in this field will apply only to the active user.
Brief Description (Additional 1): This field functions as an extra container for brief description text, should the user wish to divide for whatever reason. This description will appear on the Brief Product page when the template contains the keyword AUTO_GENERATED_PRODUCT_DESCR_1. And it will appear on either the Brief or Detail Product when the keyword AUTO_GENERATED_PRODUCT_DESCR_BRIEF_1 is used.
Brief Description (Additional 2): This field functions as a third container for brief description text, should the user wish to divide for whatever reason. This description will appear on the Brief Product page when the template contains the keyword AUTO_GENERATED_PRODUCT_DESCR_2. And it will appear on either the Brief or Detail Product when the keyword AUTO_GENERATED_PRODUCT_DESCR_BRIEF_2 is used.
Detail Description: This field may contain full HTML markup. It is the description that will appear on the Detail Product page when the template contains the keyword AUTO_GENERATED_PRODUCT_DESCR. And it will appear on either the Brief or Detail Product when the keyword AUTO_GENERATED_PRODUCT_DESCR_DETAILED is used.

Products – Descriptions Functions

: Replace all new lines with a line break tag ( <br> ).
: Selecting this icon will copy the text from the Brief Description into the box corresponding with the icon.
Reset: Selecting this function will revert the product’s descriptions to the previously saved version, undoing any changes that have been made in the current session.

How to Add Product Descriptions

Product Descriptions can be added via the Descriptions tab of the individual Product screen. You may access this screen either when first adding a Product or you may Edit a Product (after it’s been created) and access this screen anytime. Product Descriptions may contain all forms of HTML.

To find the Product Descriptions screen:

Click the Products tab.
Locate the Product Structure section. Click the Products icon ( ). You will be transferred to the Products screen.
Locate the Product to which you wish to add Descriptions. Click the Edit link that corresponds to it.
Select the Descriptions tab ( ). You will be transferred to the individual Product’s Descriptions screen.
Enter all desired text.
Click the Update button ( ) when finished.
