SEO Naming Rules
SEO Naming Rules Overview
Create naming rules for many items throughout your site that affect Search Engine Optimization such as: Titles, Meta tags, Link Text and more. Naming rules are applied to existing and new products to help ensure consistency. Although these settings affect the values of many items on your published website, they will not affect the values of items as displayed in the fields throughout the Control Panel. During the generation process items are modified according to the SEO naming rules. The benefit of this design is that the current value stored for a given field can be combined with the SEO naming rule in order to create a highly customizable value. For each available item & rule listed on the SEO Naming rules screen, you are able to select several attributes, delimiters, custom text and more for a highly customizable value.

Max Words from Content: This setting is available for naming rules where you are able to select Content as part of the item name. For example, the Max Words from Content Setting can be found in the naming rule: Custom Menu & Custom Pages Naming Rules | Content Naming Rules. The naming rule will replace Content with the first X words displayed in the content of the page where X is defined by the Max Words from Content Setting.
Results Max Words: This setting is available for most naming rules. It allows you to define the upper limit for the number of words in the value created by the given naming rule. Often, a very long value is not desirable. For example, you would not want an image name that is 100 words. The naming rules are very flexible and will allow you to create very long values. Ensure that the word length of the given value is not too long by setting an appropriate value for Results Max Words.
Custom Delimiter: This setting is available for most naming rules. Upon choosing Custom Delimiter an additional text field will appear where you are able to add your own delimiter. This setting is useful if you require a delimiter that is not included in the available set of delimiters (space, comma, dash and dot).
Custom Fields: Other Control Panel screens, including Custom Pages, Category Types, Categories and Products now allow you to add values for up to 3 Custom Fields per item. For example you can have 3 Custom Fields per Product. The SEO Naming Rules screen now allows you to select from the 3 Custom Fields as part of your naming rules.
